How to arrive to Istria

By car

The closest roads leading to Istria are the roads via Trieste, Ljubljana and Zagreb. You can also calculate the best route by your own going to the web site of ViaMichelin.

To enter Croatia and to drive through it you need the international motor insurance card, valid driving license and a car registration card. In Croatia cars drive on the right side of the road. If the traffic signs do not indicate different, the speed limits amount to:

  • 50 km/h in inhabited places
  • 80 km/h out of inhabited place
  • 130 km/h on the highways

Petrol stations are open from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. (in summer from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.) and some of them are open non-stop.

By bus or by train

You can come to Istria from all European destinations via Trieste, Ljubljana and Zagreb by bus or by train as well as by combination of both ways of transportation. This is the cheapest way of transportation if you are coming to Istria from the Middle Europe.

By plane

Pula Airport is connected to the whole world by everyday flights via Zagreb. There are direct flights by Ryan Air into Pula airport from London and Dublin during summer period. Thera are also several other low cost airlines flying to Pula from other large airports in Western Europe during summer.
